Osteopath treating a patient's back

A hands-on approach to movement and recovery.

Osteopathy is a primary care profession focused on diagnosing, treating and preventing musculoskeletal problems. Rather than only looking at where it hurts, osteopaths consider how your lifestyle, work and daily demands might be contributing to how you feel, with the aim of getting you back to normal life as quickly as possible.

What to expect

  1. First visit

Your first visit begins with a chat about your symptoms and history, then a physical assessment, a clear explanation and, where suitable, your first treatment.

  2. Follow-up appointments

Follow-up sessions review how you have responded since your last visit, then build on your plan with adjusted hands-on work and home exercises as you progress.

  3. Practical tips

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and arrive a few minutes early. Bring any relevant scans or letters, and a list of any medication you take.
